JAMSHEDPUR: Juvenile inmate, Vikram Das, finally landed in jail after medical tests conclusively found him adult and the district juvenile board sent him to jail on Saturday, police said on Sunday.

Das was in juvenile home on the basis of an age-proof provided by a headmaster and assistant teacher of a middle school.

“Vikram Das has been shifted to Ghaghidih central jail from juvenile home yesterday after medical tests confirmed his adulthood. We had already lodged FIRs against six persons including the headmaster and assistant teacher of Khalsa Middle School here on charges of providing fake age-proof to Vikram on the basis if which he was sent to juvenile home instead of jail after he was arrested on charges of raping and murdering a minor girl in Ambedkar Harijan Basti,”said Vinodanand Singh, Burmamines PS officer-incharge (OC) on Sunday.

According to the OC, FIR has also named main accused

Vikram Das, his father Kaliya Das, mother Usha Das and brother Shiva Das for forgery, conspiracy and misleading police and the court.

Khalsa Middle School headmaster Rajvanshi Singh and assistant teacher Amardev Mishra had certified accused Vikram Das as 13-year-old at the time of the gruesome crime. Dabloo Das, victim’s father had referred to Vikram’s married status and alleged in his petitions that the his wife had undergone three abortions.

“We thank the SSP, our lawyer Sanjiv Ranjan Bariyar and social worker Kanchan Singh for sending the accused to jail. The certificate issued to Vikram by Khalsa Middle School had certified that his age was just 13 years and 10 months when he brutally raped and murdered my 5-year-old daughter on April 4, 2018. But, Vikram’s age was 17 years in their ration card on January 1, 2017 while his age was 20 years as per his Aaddhaar card. It means Vikram’s age must have been 18 years and four months at the time of crime,” said Dabloo Das.
