RANCHI: JP Nadda, BJP’s national working president, said Congress was vitiating the peaceful atmosphere of the country by spreading rumours about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which accords Indian nationality only to persecuted religious minorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and doesn’t take away citizenship of any Indian.

“Why then Congress is having cramps in stomach?” Nadda said, while addressing a rally on the last day of election campaign in Santhal Pargana division in Sarath assembly segment.

The election campaigns for the last and final phase of assembly polls ended on Wednesday. Voting in this phase, covering 16 assembly constituencies, is to take place on December 20. The counting of votes is on December 23.

Blaming Congress for keeping Ram Janambhumi issue pending, Nadda said, “People have greatest regard for the Ram Janambhumi but Congress didn’t care about it and kept the matter pending for long. It’s leader pleaded before the Supreme Court not to decide the case. But the court has decided it and we will construct the temple soon.” He urged the people to teach a lesson to the Congress for keeping Ram Janambhumi issue pending for long. “They need rest,” Nadda said.

He added, “Voters should take a fare sighted approach while

exercising their franchise. It’s not an election to chose an MLA or a CM. It is more than that as your votes will change the fate and image of the state. Keeping this in mind, your votes should go to set up a stable, corruption free and development oriented government.”

Giving an accounts of the development works being carried out in the state in last five years, Nadda said, “Under the 13th finance commission in Congress regime, Jharkhand got ₹55,000 crore only, whereas it got ₹3.08 lakh crore in BJP’s last five-year tenure.”

The last day of polling in Santhal Pargana division witnessed roadshows and rallies of a battery of BJP’s star campaigners, including Babul Supriyo, who took out roadshows in Jamtara, Nala and Mahgama assembly seats, and Ravi Kishan who addressed two rallies in Rajmahal and Mahgama. Besides, chief minister Raghubar Das also addressed public rally in Poreyahat assembly seat.
