Hemant concludes poll campaigns in Jama, acid test for JMM in Santhal Pargana
RANCHI: Hemant Soren, JMM working president, wrapped up his election campaigns for the assembly polls in Amrapahari of Jama assembly segment on Wednesday with the call to give the JMM-led alliance a clear majority.
“It’s enough, we have tolerated this anti-people government for the last five years,” said Hemant while pleading people to vote for JMM’s candidate from Jama and his sister-in-law Sita Soren.
He began the day with a prabhat pheri (morning procession) in Dumka town and left for Rajmahal, Barhait and Jama for campaigns. He reminded his father’s struggle and the BJP misrule in Jharkhand for the last 16 years that dashed people’s hopes.
“I have done my job, let’s see how people respond,” said Hemant after ending his election campaign. He was apprehensive of misuse of the government machinery and administrative power by the BJP though.
His helicopter made several sorties in Santhal Pargana between the third and fifth phase and Hemant took out all ammunitions against the BJP and other regional players, AJSU party in particular addressing election rallies.
Hemant being the chief minister’s face of the grand alliance is contesting from two seats – Dumka and Barhait — in the state polls. He spent time with people in Dumka and Barhait.

eight BJP and six JMM candidates to the assembly in 2014. In all, there are 16 assembly constituencies in Santhal Parganas .The JMM had 10 legislators from the region earlier.
Time will say to which extend he could drive in the screw (clarion call to uproot the BJP regime) in voters’ minds. It is an acid test for the JMM and Hemant in Santhal Parganas on December 20 when 16 seats of the region would go to polls.
