Tejashwi says govt shielding MLA, seeks CBI probe

› I ask how is the JD(U) MLA holding pressers when he is wanted in a murder case and why are police not arresting him.

PATNA: Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Wednesday stepped up attack on chief minister Nitish Kumar over the delay in arrest of JD(U) MLA Amarendra Kumar Pandey in connection with the triple murder case at Hathua in Gopalganj district and met Governor Phagu Chauhan seeking a CBI probe.

“I along with senior leaders met the Governor and apprised him about the ghastly killing of three persons of the same family at Rupanchak village in Gopalganj district recently in which JD(U) MLA from Kuchaikote is a named accused. We demanded a CBI probe into the triple murder case and also sought the Governor’s interventi­on over the deteriorat­ing law and order situation in Bihar,” Tejashwi said.

Pandey has been named as an accused in the triple murder case, based on the statement of one of the survivors of the attack, who is undergoing treatment at the PMCH.

Earlier in the day, Tejashwi

alleged that the state administra­tion was giving protection to the accused MLA. “The JD(U) MLA is talking to the media and issuing intimidati­ng statements against the opposition. I ask how is the JD(U) MLA holding pressers when he is wanted in a murder case and why are the police not arresting him. Do the police have no informatio­n about his whereabout­s?” the opposition leader asked. Reiteratin­g his ultimatum given to the state government to arrest the heavyweigh­t JD(U) MLA within two days, Tejashwi said he and his party MLAs would wait till Thursday evening and then march to the Gopalganj.
