Narcotics seized, one arrested

BETTIAH: The 71st Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested a person and seized narcotics worth ₹2 crore during a raid in East Champaran district on Friday morning.

The SSB official said that following a tip-off, a team comprising 20 security personnel waylaid a pickup van near Piprakothi in East Champaran district and seized narcotics which was were being ferried illegally from Raxaul to Muzaffarpu­r via national highway (NH-28).

“The seizure included 800 grams of morphine, which is valued at ₹2 crore,” said Commandant Devanand of 71st SSB Battalion.

“We also seized the pickup van and arrested the driver, “said the Commandant.

Identified as Niraj Kumar alias Alam Munna, the driver was being interrogat­ed by the Piprakothi police at the time of filing this report.
