JAMSHEDPUR: 39 FIRS, NOTICE TO OVER 228 FOR CONSTRUCTION LAW VIOLATION
JAMSHEDPUR: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) served notice to 75 persons and builders on Wednesday and filed 39 FIRs in a month for construction in deviation of approved building plan and drawings and violation of building by laws across the city, an official said.
Altogether 228 notices have been served so far, of which 200 notices have been sent by the JNAC while 20 notices have been served in Mango Municipality areas and eight in Jugsalai Municipality areas.
The move came after Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum) deputy commissioner (DC) Suraj Kumar’s stern warning to the special officers and CEOs of the three urban local bodies (ULBs) late Tuesday evening.
“Notices have been served to 75 house owners for constructions in deviation of approved building plans and drawings. FIRs will be lodged against them as well if they fail to furnish satisfactory replies. These people have been shortlisted through a survey across the city. As of now we have lodged FIRs against 39 house-owners under Sections 17(1), (2) and (3) of the IPC and Sections 34, 188, 406 and sub-section 5 of the Section 436 of Jharkhand Municipal Act-2011 for deviation of drawing under Jharkhand Apartment Ownership Act in different police stations in the city,” Krihsna Kumar, JNAC special officer, said.
He said eight teams have been formed for Jamshedpur (East) and Jamshedpur (West) assembly areas for identifying such constructions. JNAC has lodged FIRs against 39 persons during the past one month for such violations and three of them have also been sent to jail.
Jamshedpur DC Suraj Kumar told the ULB officials on Wednesday that complying with the approved building plan and drawings was mandatory, no matter if these are construction of a single room or a building.
“Serve notice to all such people. Stop such constructions and ask them to dismantle building parts constructed in deviation of approved plan and drawings. Or else, administration will dismantle such deviated parts and recover the cost thereof from such house owners, builders and promoters. Also levy fines on them,” the DC warned.
