RANCHI: Half-buried body of a 30-year-old woman was found in Shankargarha village under Mufassil police station in Bokaro district on Wednesday, police said.

The police exhumed the body and sent it for postmortem examination to determine how the woman was killed. Prima facie it appears to be a case of murder, as blood strain and a stick were found from the place she was buried.

Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Chas, Bhagwan Das said, “A special investigation team (SIT) has been set up for investigation into the case. A team of Crime Investigation Department (CID) has also reached here from Ranchi to assist in the investigation.”

He said, “Prima facie it seems to be a case of murder. How and when the murder was committed could only be known after autopsy report comes. Actually, railway works are going on in the area. Some villagers spotted a portion of a leg of the buried woman. The murderers might have buried the woman in hurry. So they could not cover the entire body. The villagers informed the police and we exhumed the body for further investigation.”

On Wednesday, a delegation from Godda district met Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu and they urged her to initiate steps for speedy action against the accused involved in the crime.

On January 12, body of a girl medical student, 21, was found floating with her legs and hands tied in dam of Ramgarh district. Police are yet to nab the accused involved in the crime.
