DHANBAD: Rattled by reluctance of medicos in taking Covidshield vaccination across the state, IMA state body on Wednesday shot off circular to all district IMA chapters for motivating the doctors to take vaccination in the interest of their health.

On Tuesday, only 2,738 medicos in state took vaccination against the list of 4,892 beneficiaries at 52 centres across the state.

“It is matter of concern that frontline Corona warriors ( doctors) are not serious for the vaccination which is necessary for them. So in the wake of Tuesday’s response , today all doctors of state have been requested to take vaccination on priority basis in the interest of health. All district IMA chapters have also been issued guidelines to motivate medicos”, said Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh ,state IMA secretary.

Dr Singh said vaccination is well tested by doctors and scientists. So doctors of state should take it without any hesitation as no complaint has surfaced in any corner of the state even after three rounds of vaccination.

IMA secretary said this after taking vaccination on Wednesday at Ranchi sadar hospital.

Lukewarm response of doctors in big districts like Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad where medicos are in large numbers rattled the IMA.

In Ranchi, three centres -RIMS, sadar hospital and Namkum CHC -- have been set up for vaccination but only 171 doctors against 353 list took it.

At Jamshedpur ( East Singhbhum), where IMA has more than 3,500 members, only 144 took the vaccination at two centres -- MGMMCH and Tata Main Hospital (TMC).

In Dhanbad, response of doctors was worst than Ranchi and Jamshedpur. On Tuesday, only 97 medicos ( 17 at Topchachi and 62 at Tundi) appeared for vaccination.

It is matter of concern that frontline Corona warriors ( doctors) are not serious for the vaccination which is necessary for them.
