Left parties, social organisations to hold protest on Feb 6
RANCHI: The Left parties, trade union bodies except the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and social organisations called for “Rasta Roko” agitation on February 6 to support the ongoing farmer’s protest.
The decision was taken on Thursday after a meeting in solidarity with the farmers who have been on agitation nationwide for 76 days, said CPI and CPI(ML) state secretaries Bhubaneswar Prasad Mehta and Janardan Prasad.
Giving details of the agitation the leaders said all entry points of the state will be jammed for three hours, from 12 pm to 3 pm. “Tthe district committees of the Santhal Parganas, North Chotanagpur South Chotanagpur, Kolhan and Palamu regions have been issued necessary directives,” Mehta said. CPM state leader Prakash Biplav, Marxist coordination leader Sushanto Mukherjee, CPI leader Ajay Singh and RJD state vice president Rajesh Yadav were also present in the meeting.
The district authorities have also been informed about the agitation called under the banner of of Samyukt Kisan Sangharsh
Morcha, Mehta said.
The leaders have appealed the people to support the agitation as well.
Meanwhile, the civil societies and organisations come together forming ekjutta manch to aware people through nukkads, hand bills about the ongoing farmer’s protest. In all, 37 organisations have given their consent.
The manch would rope in stage artists to hold nukkad sabhas.
They will also reach out to the people with pamphlets detailing the issues related to the new laws (which they are opposed to) and the farmer’s struggle.
A delegation of ekjut manch would also meet chief minister Hemant Soren pleading his intervention to take up the matter with the Centre.
