Guv inaugurates tribal hostel in Jamshedpur
JAMSHEDPUR: Governor Droupadi Murmu on Sunday inaugurated the new 120-bed hostel for tribal students built by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) and Vivekananda Trust here at Ramkrishna Mission Vivekananda Society under Sakchi police station in Jamshedpur.
“Students studying in government schools are full of humility and spirituality. My heartful thanks to Ramkrishna Mission and RVNL for such an endeavour, as such works go on to build the nation and fulfil dreams of Swami Vivekananda. Children from tribal communities and deprived sections will be able to build their life and careers, and participate in nation-building by living in this hostel and getting truly educated,” said Murmu.
The hostel has a capacity to accommodate 120 students from tribal communities and deprived sections of the society.
It has been built at a cost of ₹2.14 crore donated to Vivekananda Trust by RVNL under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) corpus.
Real saints are those whose hearts cry for poor and needy, the Governor said. “Swami Vivekanand had established Ramkrishna Mission with this motto of helping and serving others. The mission now runs 16 schools in Jamshedpur alone. Its selfless service to lakhs of people during Covid-19 crisis too cannot not be forgotten. I am told the school has also arranged for computer and typewriter training. I wish they also set up a placement cell,” said Murmu.
RVNL Director (operation) Rajesh Prasad, director (personnel) Ajay Kumar, Kokhan commissioner Manish Ranjan, DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh, East Singhbhum DC Suraj Kumar, Chakradharpur DRM Bijay Sahu, Sr DCM Manish Pathak and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
