JAIPUR: BJP national president JP Nadda on Tuesday asked party leaders to do self-analysis about their relevance, productivity and contribution to the party, a statement that came amid reports of factionalism in the party’s Rajasthan unit.

“Knowingly or unknowingly, people think that they know everything. This is the first symptom of downfall. The concept of self-analysis has been left aside,” Nadda said, addressing the executive meeting of the state BJP.

“In politics, you have to be relevant and this depends on your contribution to the party. The leader will have to develop the quality of taking along everyone which will increase your acceptance. Leadership is developed when you take everyone along,” he said.

“BJP is a cadre-based party and it is our responsibility to strengthen that cadre,” he said. Nadda asked the leaders to make strong mandal units by April 6, the party’s foundation date; active booth committees by September 25 (Deen Dayal Upadhyay anniversary) and panna pramukh by December 25 (Atal Bihari Vajpayee anniversary).

Speaking on farmers’ stir, Nadda said, “I claim that the farmer leaders for years have done just politics, and it’s PM Narendra Modi who thought of their welfare.” He said farm reforms brought by the Centre will change the fortune of the farmers.

Hitting out at the Congress, he said, “They are a frustrated lot…they can promise anything to come to power but never fulfil them. Loan waiver promise is yet to be fulfilled.”

Targeting CM Ashok Gehlot, he said the state is on top in crime against women and second in Dalit atrocities.

Addressing the programme, state president Satish Poonia said that the party will hold demonstrations on issues, such as electricity, employment and loan waiver, against the Congress government from March 6 to 14. Poonia exuded confidence that BJP will win all the four seats going for bypoll.

Present on dais were former CM Vasundhara Raje, BJP national general secretary and in-charge for Rajasthan Arun Singh, union ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Ram Meghwal and Kailash Chaudhary, leader of opposition Gulabchand Kataria and deputy leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore.

Senior Congress leader Archana Sharma said Nadda’s visit was aimed at bridging the divide in BJP state unit. He is criticising the Congress, despite knowing that the masses are supporting the Gehlot government. “The rift in the BJP is evident with MLAs writing to state chief of being neglected; one faction is demanding that Raje be projected as next CM,” she said.
