3 killed as truck rams into house in Palamu district

LATEHAR: Three persons died and two were seriously injured after a loaded truck rammed into a house at Kauwakhoh under Harihargan­j police station area in Palamu district on Tuesday, police said.

Chhatarpur deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP) Shambhu Kumar Singh said, “A man riding a bicycle, along with the driver and the cleaner of the truck, was killed in the mishap. However, it is surprising as to how the truck jumped off the road and rammed into a house situated far off the National Highway. It is suspected that the vehicle brakes failed.”

One of the deceased was identified as Dharmendra Bhuiyan (23), while efforts were on identify the driver and the cleaner. According to available informatio­n, prior to hitting the house, the truck crushed Bhuiyan to death and badly hit a couple on a motorcycle. The condition of the couple was critical, police said.

the truck driver and cleaner got stuck in the mangled parts of the vehicle that rammed into an empty house 10 metres away.

Police said the truck was on its way to Harihargan­j at the time of the accident. On getting informatio­n, a team of civil and police officials rushed to the spot and took the injured to a nearby government hospital for treatment. “We managed to recover the bodies of the driver and the cleaner out of the vehicle and efforts are on to establish their identity,” the DSP said.
