Relaunch community kitchens for poor: Yogi
Yogi orders reserving one oxygen re-filler in each district for patients in home isolation
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday asked for relaunching community kitchens to feed the needy during the partial corona curfew and reserving one re-filler in each district for supplying oxygen to Covid patients in home isolation.
“Start community kitchen the way they were operated last year, so that the needy people such as labourers, roadside vendors and daily wagers do not face food shortage. The agriculture production commission should work towards this. Also, there should be food arrangement, according to requirements, in industrial units for the workers engaged there,” Yogi said while reviewing Covid situation in the state with Team-9.
Regarding oxygen requirements of home isolation patients, Yogi ordered: “Reserve an oxygen re-filler in each district to fulfil needs of patients in home isolation. Such patients must get oxygen if they need it. This arrangement should be implemented effectively in all districts. If a relative of any Covid patient is going to get an oxygen refill, help the person. Police must not harass any such person. Additional chief secretary (home) should look into this.”
Yogi said that to keep villages safe from Covid, the state would launch an extensive testing and tracing drive in rural areas from Wednesday and asked the health department to make necessary all arrangements.
Regarding a panel of medical experts to advise Team-9, the CM said that the panel was being put together. It would advise Team-9 and also keep in contact touch with those in charge of Covid hospitals and principals of medical colleges. The advice of the medical panel would help in making strategies to tackle Covid.
Yogi said that a 250-bed Covid hospital by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) would be operational in Lucknow soon and the health department should make necessary arrangements for human resources for this hospital. The special dedicated Covid hospital
at the Cancer Institute in Lucknow was on the verge of getting started, he said.
Talking about oxygen and oxygen audit, he said: “Unnecessary use of oxygen has gone down in the state according to the oxygen audit’s preliminary report. All districts are providing data on oxygen supply and demand to the CM office on a daily basis. On Monday, a total
of 788 metric tonnes of oxygen was distributed in the state.”
He said that a closed oxygen plant in Ayodhya was being re-run.
The chief minister informed that there was a steady fall in the number of fresh Covid cases in the state over the past few days. In the past 24 hours 25,858 new cases were registered against 38,683 recoveries.
