: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday further extended the ongoing “partial corona curfew” by four days till 7am on Monday (May 10) in all the 75 districts of the state.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced the extension at the Covid review meeting here.

The extension makes the ongoing corona curfew 10-day long. It began at 8pm on April 30 and will continue till 7am on May 10. It has now become the longest such restriction in the state since the national Covid-19 lockdown last year.

Important and essential services, including medical facilities and medicine shops, e-commerce related activities, industrial activities, ration distribution, Covid vaccination, vegetable and fruit shops, and neighbourhood grocery shops are fully exempted from the curfew.

“The (partial) corona curfew from Friday (April 30) 8pm to Tuesday (May 4) 7am, which was extended on May 3 for 48 hours and is in force till May 6 7am, has been further extended till Monday (May 10) 7am,” an official spokesman said here. Asking for strict implementation of the partial corona curfew, the chief minister said, “Also, if required issue e-passes to those who need it for the permitted activities.”

“Now, begin running community kitchens for the needy such as daily wagers, labourers,

street-roadside vendors, etc. Implement containment zone rules, regulations and protocols strictly and do only doorstep deliveries there. Also, make food arrangements for the workers engaged in the respective industrial units,” he said.

He once again said the number of Covid recoveries was steadily rising against the number of fresh cases. In the last 24 hours, the recoveries were 40,852 against a total 21,165 fresh cases, he added. The state saw a total of 2,32,038 tests in the last 24 hours of which 1,13,000 were RT-PCR tests.

WARNING AGAINST IRREGULARITIES

Warning against some reported irregularities in Covid treatment, the chief minister said:

“There have been some reports that certain hospitals were wrongly showing lack of beds and oxygen to patients, dillydallying in treatment and in, some places, overcharging. Act strictly against any such incidents. We have introduced the system of posting sector magistrates in all districts to prevent, check, and act against such incidents.”

RURAL TESTING DRIVE LAUNCHED

Yogi Adityanath said that the state on Wednesday launched an extensive Covid testing and tracing drive in all the 97,000 revenue villages in the state with an intent to keep the villages safe from Covid. A panel of medical experts had been formed to advise the Team-9 for

Covid prevention and treatment, he added.

OXYGEN SUPPLY

He said that the state was continuously stepping up the supply of oxygen and related equipment in the state, adding that 4,370 oxygen concentrators had been distributed among all the districts. All PHCs (primary health centres) had been given 20 oxygen concentrators each, he said. “In the last 24 hours, a total of 750 metric tonnes of oxygen has been distributed among the hospitals and 800 metric tonnes more will be distributed soon.

For Bareilly and Moradabad, oxygen is being sent on trains while the air route is being used for Agra. The state also got 14 new oxygen tankers,” he said.
