Sarah lashes out at fraudsters cheating amid the pandemic
How can you sleep at night?” is what actor Sarah Jane Dias wants to ask the fraudsters preying on the vulnerabilities of panicstricken people looking for medicines and medical facilities amid the second wave of Covid-19 outbreak in India.
“I have had some pretty difficult days emotionally because it has just been so upsetting to hear about the people who are desperately trying to look for medication and oxygen for their friends or the family,” says Dias, while sharing a shocking experience that one of her friends had to go through, while searching for a life-saving drug. “Recently, it became really difficult for me to sleep. Because I was told that one of my family friends was looking for Remdesivir for her father, and she gave someone ₹18,000 for the medicine, and he turned out to be a fraud,” shares the actor, adding that the incident left her very angry and upset.
“Here, so many people are dying. In fact, there are not enough funeral arrangements because we are losing people in such large numbers. And you are thinking of cheating people at this time? I want to ask them [people committing such frauds], what if the same happens to them. And it can happen to you, fraudster, because that’s how rapidly the infection is spreading,” warns the actor.
Amid all this, the 38-yearold has now leaned onto meditation and a fitness regime to escape negativity and cope with grief that’s present all around. “It has helped me stay strong and stay clear, no matter what I’m dealing with or what’s happening around me. It doesn’t become an overburdening feeling, and doesn’t end up ruining the ecosystem of my mind and body,” shares the Tandav actor, who is determined to not operate from a place of fear.
Even when she is feeling low, she makes it a point to not miss her workout session. “It releases positive energy. And you feel like ke acha thik hai yeh sab ho raha hai, lekin I can filter it. I can process, and I can decide what to take and what not to take,” she signs off.
