This is a very happy bonus: Prajakta on Daytime Emmy nomination
Icould’ve never imagined that this would happen. When I started off, I didn’t know that creating content on YouTube would take me so far. All this is a bonus,” says Prajakta Koli as her documentary got nominated under the category of Outstanding Daytime Non-Fiction Special at the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Reminiscing about the time when she heard the big news, the content creator-cum-actor says, “I looked up the news on the internet because I couldn’t believe it. I was going through a slightly low phase because of the Covid-19 situation but the news came like a ray of sunshine. The fact that someone like me gets to be a part of a project that gets nominated at the Emmys is a win in itself.”
Koli, who champions right to education, travelled to Lucknow and interacted with the students of an NGO to get a better perspective on the challenges of education in smaller districts of India before her rendezvous with Michelle Obama in the documentary.
Talking about the need to promote education among children, the Mismatched actor shares, “I feel privileged that I could go to school. When I was growing up, I took it for granted. Education is never going to be less important irrespective of whether we talk about it in light of the pandemic or not.”
With content consumption being at an all-time during the pandemic, she refutes the perception that creators are under pressure to churn out more content. “During the lockdown, I was uploading three videos a week much like what I was doing earlier. But postlockdown last year, I was quite sceptical and scared about the whole situation. And in the past one month, I haven’t uploaded much content,” ends Koli, who will next be seen in Jug Jugg Jeeyo.
