At Tokyo, a first for Indian women
SECOND IN HAND
Shooter Avani Lekhara scripted history as she claimed her second medal at the Tokyo Paralympics, becoming the first Indian woman to win two medals in the same edition of the Games. “I could have done better,” she said.
FIERCE FINAL
The 19-year-old who had earlier won the gold medal in R-2 women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1, claimed a bronze medal in R8 50m rifle 3P SH1 event. She totalled 445.9 to finish ahead of Ukraine’s Iryna Shchetnik.
ANOTHER SILVER
On Friday, 18-year-old Praveen Kumar also clinched the silver medal in the men’s high jump T64 event of the Paralympics. He set a an Asian record with a 2.07m jump to finish behind Great Britain’s Jonathan Broom-Edwards.
