PATNA: A nine-year-old girl is battling for her life after she was kidnapped from her hut in Bihar’s Samastipur district, brutally raped and then left to die in an orchard, police said.

The incident occurred on November 11, but came to light late on Sunday when she was admitted at a private hospital in Muzaffarpur for treatment.

According to police, the girl was kidnapped around 8.30 pm when she was playing in her house falling under Chakmehsi police station of Samastipur district and brought her a nearby orchard. The kidnapper brutally raped the minor girl, allegedly mutilated her private parts, dumped her in a field near the village and escaped from the spot.

After the girl could not be found for a long time, her family members and villagers started looking for her. After some time, they were informed that the girl was lying in a pool of blood in a field in an unconscious state.

The family members said the girl’s private parts were damaged and that the rapist even damaged her tongue too.

The girl’s family rushed her to the government hospital in a critical condition. She was later referred to Muzaffarpur.

Samastipur superintendent of police (SP) Hridaykant told HT that the rapist has been identified and raids are on to nab him.
