TIGRESS SHOT DEAD IN UP’S ALMORA DISTRICT

-

HALDWANI: The carcass of a tigress, with bullet wounds, was allegedly found from the Marchula market in Sult block in Almora district on Monday late evening, officials said on Tuesday. Following the incident, Corbett Tiger Reserve director Dheeraj Pandey ordered a probe into the matter.

The tigress was being seen in the area for the last two days, officials said. A video of the incident was shared widely on social media platforms in which the tigress could be seen shot at two times. HT has seen the video.

A white four-wheeler, similar to the vehicles used by the forest department, is also visible in the video, with the barrel of a long gun coming out of its window and pointing towards the tiger. In the video, the tigress can be seen charging toward the vehicle before two shots were fired at the animal.
