Rajaji Tiger Reserve opens for winter
HARIDWAR: The Rajaji Tiger Reserve in the state opened after the monsoon break for the tourists on Tuesday for the 2022-23 season.
Rajaji Tiger Reserve officials, gypsy safari operators, local residents and tourists were present during the opening ceremony held at at Chila and Motichur ranges.
The reserve gates were closed for the monsoon season on June 15 during which maintenance, upgrading and renovation work was carried out within the park particularly on the safari track.
Rajaji Tiger Reserve deputy director, Motichur range, Kahkasha Naseem also inaugurated a skill training session for local women and youths in handicrafts.
“Rajaji Tiger Reserve opens for November 2022-June 2023 season and we have made elaborate arrangements for a smooth visit to park for the tourists,” Naseem said.
“We are expecting a good turnout of domestic and international visitors during this season.We have also initiated skill development training for local women and youths so that they get employment opportunities via the eco-development committee by making and selling their own handicrafts,” he said.
Eco development committee president Dharmendar Gwadi lauded the efforts of the RTR authorities.
The reserve is spread across districts of Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar and Dehradun in 842 sq km area.
