n Sunday, singer Armaan Malik won his second MTV Europe Music Award (EMA) for his track You in the Best India Act category. His first award came in 2020 for his debut single, Control. “It is a surreal feeling,” Malik shares, adding, “A lot of my amazing contemporaries were on the coveted list and when I heard the news (of the EMA win), it felt like all the love and hard work paid off. I am humbled and overjoyed to win my second EMA.”

The 26-year-old calls You “a very special record”, and adds, “I want to thank all my fans and well-wishers who voted for me. The amount of love and support I have received from Armaanians all over the world is truly unprecedented and it fills me with gratitude. This one’s for them, my family and my country.”

The Yaara (Vikram Vedha) singer wore a Manish Malhotra (fashion designer) outfit for the EMA red carpet. Ask what went behind getting his look right and Malik explains, “When the team brainstormed ideas for the best look for me for the night, they knew this was going to be a highlight moment for me. Taking the excitement into context, a sleek look was put together. I was sure about the colour along with the saintly vibe that I wanted to carry. So, we went ahead with a polished, offbeat three-piece suit.”

Travelling to Los Angeles (US) and being at a venue full of talented musicians was a “one-of-a-kind” experience for the singer. “Having seen the stars on screen and then being under the roof as them is an unfathomable experience,” he wraps up.
