HEALTH OFFICIAL IN ROHTAS BOOKED FOR DRINKING LIQUOR

THE DOCTOR HAS REFUTED THE ALLEGATION­S AND SAID IT WAS AN OLD VIDEO CLIP

SASARAM: A health official in Rohtas district of Bihar was booked on Thursday after a video clip purportedl­y showing him consuming liquor began and circulatin­g on social media was found to be prime facie true, police said.

A video clip purportedl­y of Dr Dayanand Prasad, in-charge medical officer of Tilothu primary health centre (PHC), consuming liquor at his residence has been circulatin­g on the social media since Wednesday.

“A case under provisions of Excise Act has been registered against the official and police are investigat­ing the case further,” Kripal Ji, station house officer (SHO) of Tilothu police station, said.

The doctor has, however, refuted the allegation­s and said it was an old video clip from Jharkhand which his opponents had posted online to malign his image.

There is no ban on liquor in Jharkhand.

Production, sale and consumptio­n of liquor is banned in Bihar since April 2016.
