HEALTH OFFICIAL IN ROHTAS BOOKED FOR DRINKING LIQUOR
THE DOCTOR HAS REFUTED THE ALLEGATIONS AND SAID IT WAS AN OLD VIDEO CLIP
SASARAM: A health official in Rohtas district of Bihar was booked on Thursday after a video clip purportedly showing him consuming liquor began and circulating on social media was found to be prime facie true, police said.
A video clip purportedly of Dr Dayanand Prasad, in-charge medical officer of Tilothu primary health centre (PHC), consuming liquor at his residence has been circulating on the social media since Wednesday.
“A case under provisions of Excise Act has been registered against the official and police are investigating the case further,” Kripal Ji, station house officer (SHO) of Tilothu police station, said.
The doctor has, however, refuted the allegations and said it was an old video clip from Jharkhand which his opponents had posted online to malign his image.
There is no ban on liquor in Jharkhand.
Production, sale and consumption of liquor is banned in Bihar since April 2016.
