Notorious Madhepura history sheeter held after police encounter
THERE ARE OVER THREE DOZEN CRIMINAL CASES PENDING AGAINST MANOJ YADAV
MADHEPURA: A former district board chairman of Madhepura in Bihar, who faces over three dozen criminal cases, was arrested along with his two accomplices after a brief exchange of fire on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Manoj Yadav’s wife Sunila Devi is currently a member of the district board and had unsuccessfully contested Alamnagar assembly seat in Madhepura district on a ticket of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in 2020.
Madhepura superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh Kumar said police the three were arrested after a brief encounter with police at Shekhpur Chaman village under Udakishunganj police station limits. “Manoj Yadav and his two accomplices, Pramod Yadav and Sushil Yadav, have been booked for attack on police for the latest incident. There are over three dozen criminal cases pending against Manoj Yadav at various police stations in the district,” the officer said.
Police said they have seized one rifle, two countrymade pistols and a large number of live cartridges from their possession, adding that the three will be booked under the stringent Crime Control Act (CCA) to ensure a speedy trial.
Subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Satish Kumar, who led the police team, said, “Acting on a tip-off, the police team challenged them at Shekhpur Chaman village. They started firing and the police team retaliated. After a brief exchange of fire, three criminals were arrested.”
