According to police, he was granted parole on November 4 to attend a family function.

Before surrendering, the former MLA said that his supporters have always stood by him. “I was in jail for 15 years, but my supporters stayed with me, this is my strength,” he said.

Interacting with media, he said, “Three occasions were important for me. One was my daughter’s engagement on November 7, then my wife Lovely Anand’s birthday on November 9 and my son Chetan Anand’s birthday on November 20.”

Anand Mohan was convicted for the murder of Gopalganj DM G Krishnaiah in 1994. In 2007, the trial court sentenced him to death. However, the Patna HC commuted the death sentence to life imprisonment in December 2008. The SC also upheld the HC decision in July 2012.
