SHOPKEEPER ARRESTED FOR RAPING 3-YR-OLD

A 50-year-old grocery shop owner in Khagaria district of Bihar has been arrested for allegedly raping a three-yearold girl, police said on Wednesday.

According to the police, the child was lured by the neighbour with a chocolate on Tuesday evening and molested. When she returned home, her parents found her private parts were bleeding and informed the police. The girl was rushed to a hospital.

“When we confronted the shopkeeper, he assaulted us. He had molested out child once in the past too, but we didn’t lodge a police complaint out of hesitation,” the girl’s father said.

Civil surgeon (CS) Dr Amar Nath Jha has constituted a twomember medical team to examine the child. “We can’t say anything till the medical team submits its report,” Jha said.

Deputy superintendent of police Sumit Kumar said, “The accused, was sent to judicial custody after being produced before the court on Wednesday.”
