Dress code for Uttarakhand madrasas from next session
: Uttarakhand Waqf Board has decided to introduce a new dress code for students in madrasas that come under its jurisdiction.
The dress code will be initially implemented in seven “model madrasas” of as many as 103 madrasas that come under its jurisdiction from the next academic session and extended to all in a phased manner, said Waqf Board chairman Shadab Shams on Wednesday.
He, however, said they were yet to finalise the dress code but will do it soon.
Shams, who is the leader of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, said they want to bring madrasas at par with educational institutions in every sense by introducing modern education based on the NCERT curriculum as per the wishes of prime minister Narendra Modi.
“Once the teaching of the Quran and the Hadees ends in madrasas, from 8.30 am onwards, the classes based on modern education would would
take place till 2 pm in its madrasas to ensure our youths become doctors, engineers, and philosophers who can compete with the world. I aspire to fulfill prime minister Narendra Modi’s dream who wants Muslims to have Quran in one hand and a laptop in the other and want our youths to be like former president APJ Abdul Kalam who was a great nationalist,” he said.
In model madrasas, smart classes would be introduced, coaching for competitive examinations would be given and its online stream through links would be ensured, he said.
Shams, who took over as chairman in September , had announced plans to “bring major revamps” in the overall functioning of the Waqf Board.
On November 13, he said that the public within this month will see the bulldozer action to free the Waqf properties of illegal possession from Dehradun.
He said they will constitute a 10-member team of retired revenue officials to find the properties of Waqf properties whose documents are “missing” as a part of a conspiracy.
The Waqf Board had earlier decided to buy a bulldozer to remove encroachments from its 145 properties. However, the board eventually came to a decision to rent the bulldozer for every anti-encroachment action.
Shams had earlier stirred a controversy with his remark, quoting police officers and local intelligence unit, that the Piran Kaliyar shrine has become a den of “anti-social elements”. In his clarification, he said his statement was twisted by the opposition party as he was referring to the Piran Kaliyar assembly constituency, not just the shrine.
He had announced that they will install CCTV cameras in and around Piran Kalyar shrine
