Submit report within a week: CS to officers
DEHRADUN : Uttarakhand chief secretary SS Sandhu on Wednesday said all IAS officers participating in the brainstorming session in Mussoorie will have to submit a report on it within a week.
The session was organised to discuss about ways on making the state strong by 2025,
On the second day of the Uttarakhand government’s ‘Chintan Shivir’ at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Sandhu said the officers should give comprehensive thought to new and innovative ideas that came up at the session.
The second day witnessed discussions on agriculture, horticulture, dairy, fisheries, and tourism sectors.
In his presentation on agriculture,
horticulture, animal husbandry, dairy development, and fisheries, department secretary BVRC Purushottam said they need to bring reforms in the agriculture and horticulture sectors and seed quality needs to be improved in hilly districts.
The secretary said, “Emphasis should also be laid on
improving the health of the soil in hilly areas. If we focus on the promotion of organic farming, it can benefit at least 50,000 farmers in the state. Other than that, we need to pay attention to resources, technology, and innovation in the hilly areas. Various departments are working in the area and we have to try to bring them all together.”
The chief secretary, on the first day of the ‘shivir’, said officers who refrain from taking decisions should take voluntary retirement. He asked the bureaucrats to change their approach and work for the public as “you are not paid to say no.”
Sandhu said officers are paid to deliver things and not to say ‘no’ and create hindrances.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also asked bureaucrats to put in extra efforts to help build a “strong Uttarakhand by 2025”.
He told the officers to give up the mindset of working from 10 am to 5 pm if they wanted to make a difference
Dhami said the IAS officers need to expedite of clearance of files instead of indulging in inter-departmental blame game.
