Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) on Thursday opened its Office of International Affairs (OIA) at its campus at Panchanpur near Bodh Gaya to cater to the needs of overseas students studying there.

OIA was inaugurated by Dr Vinay Sahastrabuddhe, president of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

“In developing countries, the preference for India as an attractive destination for higher studies is not adequate. Considering this, ICCR India organized a conference in 2019 on the theme ‘Destination India’. India is working to attract foreign students to its acclaimed institutions across the nation,” he said.

CUSB vice chancellor professor Kameshwar Nath Singh said, “CUSB’s location closer to Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Nalanda makes it an ideal destination.”

OIA chairman Dr Rakesh Kumar said the university currently has three international students.

Nalanda University, barely 90 kms from CUSB, also has foreign students enrolled with its various courses.

CUSB had started its journey in Bihar in 2010 from a makeshift venue in Patna and later shifted to its sprawling campus at Panchanpur near Gaya.
