DHANBAD: Chief electoral officer of Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar, conducted a review of preparation for the Lok Sabha elections in Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, and Deoghar districts during his visits on Saturday and instructed the officials to remain extra vigilant regarding conducting peaceful, fearless, and neutral elections and cautioned against any laxity, officials said.
He instructed the officials to submit a report regarding the completion of their respective allotted work by the 15th of this month, officials said.
The CEO further instructed the officials to work in close coordination with each other to give momentum to ongoing election preparation work.
The meeting, during which AV Holmkar, the police nodal officer for elections, was also present, discussed strict action against illicit liquor, contraband, arms, explosives, etc.
Regarding the arrangement of vehicles for transporting security personnel and polling officials to different booths, he said that while ensuring hasslefree transportation of polling personnel and security personnel, the officials of the vehicle section should avoid discomfort to common people during elections.
“As people are expected to go to polling booths along with their family members in an enthusiastic atmosphere to cast votes, the vehicle procurement process should not affect the common life and create a curfew-like situation,” said K Ravi Kumar.
“Webcasting arrangements have been made at all polling booths to monitor the election process,” said Kumar, adding that polling would be conducted from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
AV Holmkar, state nodal police officer, instructed the police officials to arrest all history sheeters and kingpins of different gangs and cautioned the police officials against treating election-related work as normal work.
He also instructed the officials to initiate the process of property attachment against all fugitive criminals.
Regarding fake news, he directed the officials to make the social media cell active and take action against fake news within eight minutes of publication.
