PM: Cong manifesto bears imprint of Muslim League

JAIPUR: The Congress manifesto reflects the same thinking which the Muslim League had during the time of Independence, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that the party has outsourced its principles and policies to the Muslim League and Left parties.

Forecasting a third term of the Bharatiya Janata Party government, Modi said that major decisions will be taken “in the first 100 days (of the government)”.

Addressing a Vijay Shankhnad election rally in Pushkar city in Ajmer on Saturday, Modi said, “the third term of my government is not far. Within the first 100 days, the BJP government will take even bigger decisions and crackdown harder against corruption… I am already prepared… what has been done in the last 10 years was just a trailer, lots more remains to be done.”

The PM also sought support for BJP candidate from Ajmer, Bhagirath Choudhary and for Nagaur candidate Jyoti Mirdha.

Much of Modi’s speech was devoted to his government schemes for women.

Modi said that Congress “never cared for women and never understood their pain” but coming from a humble background, he could empathise with women. Modi said: “Women did not have facility of toilets, they did not have gas cylinders, they had to trudge far to get water, they did not get nutritious food, they had no bank accounts and women had no property in their names”.

“Today women are demanding answers to decades of neglect,” he said and added, “On April 19 and April 26, press the lotus symbol and punish the Congress.”

Modi said that in 2014, women blessed him and in 10 years, his government has built 120 million toilets for women, given gas cylinders to 100 million women, built 40 million homes in names of women, given tap water to 100 million homes, opened jan dhan bank accounts for 250 million women, created 10 million Lakhpati didis, opened doors of armed forces and Sainik schools for women, increased maternity leave to six months and passed the women’s reservation bill in Parliament.

“India can only become developed and self reliant when 50% population is given encouragement. Respect, security and prosperity of women is Modi’s guarantee. That’s why all women are saying we will make Modi win, this is each woman’s guarantee,” the Prime Minister said.

Referring to the Congress manifesto, Modi said, “The Congress yesterday (Friday) released its bundle of lies which reveals the truth of the Congress… each page reeks of dividing India… the manifesto reflects the same thinking which the Muslim League had during the time of Independence… the Congress wants to push the ideology of the Muslim League today. And the space that remains after the imprint of the Muslim League has been captured by the Left… Today Congress has no principles or policies of its own, they have given everything on contract, it has outsourced everything… can such a party work in national interest?”

Slamming the Congress, Modi said: “They never cared for the poor, women, youth or farmers. Wherever Congress is in power, there can never be development. It is a dynastic party and on top of that it is a corrupt party.”
