Three music maestros get Marwar Sangeet Ratna Award
Three renowned musicians including Sarangi maestro Padma Shri Ustad Moinuddin Khan of Jaipur were honoured with the prestigious Marwar Sangeet Ratna awards during a ceremony held at the majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace’s Ali Akbar Khan auditorium recently. Erstwhile ruler of Marwar Gaj Singh presented the late HH Maharaja Hanwant Singh Marwar Sangeet Ratrna awards to renowned Sarod maestro Pandit Brij Narayan (Mumbai) for the year 2012, Ustad Moinuddin (2013) and classical vocalist Prof Rajendra Vaishnav (2014) of Jodhpur. The musicians were awarded `50,000, a citation, a shawl, a shreephal (coconut) and a memento for their exceptional outstanding contribution in the field of classical music at the national and international level. Mehrangarh Museum Trust and Swar Sudha, an organisation working for encouraging classical music, jointly organised the award ceremony. The award ceremony was followed by enchanting musical performance by all the awardees. Marwar Sangeet Ratna award has been established as a prestigious award among the artistes as renowned music gurus of country including Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Ram Narayan, Brij Bhushanji Kabra, Sultan Khan, Padam Shri Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Askaran Sharma, Pandit Bhawani Shankar, Manju Mehta, Basant Kumar Kabra and ghazal singer Rajkumar Rizvi are among the recipients of the award.
