Three music mae­stros get Mar­war Sangeet Ratna Award

Three renowned mu­si­cians in­clud­ing Sarangi mae­stro Padma Shri Us­tad Moin­ud­din Khan of Jaipur were honoured with the pres­ti­gious Mar­war Sangeet Ratna awards dur­ing a cer­e­mony held at the ma­jes­tic Umaid Bhawan Palace’s Ali Ak­bar Khan au­di­to­rium re­cently. Erst­while ruler of Mar­war Gaj Singh pre­sented the late HH Ma­haraja Han­want Singh Mar­war Sangeet Ra­trna awards to renowned Sarod mae­stro Pan­dit Brij Narayan (Mum­bai) for the year 2012, Us­tad Moin­ud­din (2013) and clas­si­cal vo­cal­ist Prof Ra­jen­dra Vaish­nav (2014) of Jodh­pur. The mu­si­cians were awarded `50,000, a ci­ta­tion, a shawl, a shree­p­hal (co­conut) and a me­mento for their ex­cep­tional out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion in the field of clas­si­cal music at the na­tional and in­ter­na­tional level. Mehran­garh Mu­seum Trust and Swar Sudha, an or­gan­i­sa­tion work­ing for en­cour­ag­ing clas­si­cal music, jointly or­gan­ised the award cer­e­mony. The award cer­e­mony was fol­lowed by en­chant­ing mu­si­cal per­for­mance by all the awardees. Mar­war Sangeet Ratna award has been es­tab­lished as a pres­ti­gious award among the artistes as renowned music gu­rus of coun­try in­clud­ing Pan­dit Jas­raj, Pan­dit Ram Narayan, Brij Bhushanji Kabra, Sul­tan Khan, Padam Shri Pan­dit Vishwa Mo­han Bhatt, Pan­dit Askaran Sharma, Pan­dit Bhawani Shankar, Manju Me­hta, Bas­ant Ku­mar Kabra and ghazal singer Ra­jku­mar Rizvi are among the re­cip­i­ents of the award.
