TAKE THAT, YOU SICK TROLLS! Dheeraj takes up photography and enjoys every bit of it

- Yashika Mathur

Actor Dheeraj Dhoopar calls acting his first love but recently, he has been investing time in learning something new. Dheeraj, who used to play the lead role in a daily soap on television has taken a fancy to the art of photography and is spending a lot of time behind the lens. “I recently bought an amazing DSLR camera and since then, it seems like I’ve a new toy to play with after my meetings. Photography has always been my passion and I was always good at it. But I’m making that special effort to learn via different sources because I want to completely understand the technicalities behind it,” says Dheeraj, who tied the knot with actor Vinny Arora last year. He has also made her fond of photography and the couple gets to spend some time together while learning the craft. “Vinny has a knack for learning new things and when she saw that I am learning photography, she joined me,” he says. Talking about the nuances of photography, the actor says, “By taking this up, I fulfill my passion and understand the importance of light, framing and shot taking, which eventually will help me when I am in front of the camera.”

Actor-comedian Ali Asgar has been absent from television for a while, but he will soon be seen with Sunil Grover in a special show that is an integration for Salman Khan and Sohail Khan’s upcoming movie. Meanwhile, it’s being reported that Sunil and Ali will come together for another show with comedian Krushna Abhishek. When asked about the shows, Ali says, “We had fun shooting for the show. And yes, there are talks about the new show, but nothing is confirmed until we shoot it.” Ali had walked out of The Kapil Sharma Show (TKSS) along with Sunil and Chandan Prabhakar in March soon after comedian-host Kapil Sharma had a fight with Sunil on a flight, when, reportedly, an inebriated Kapil insulted the trio. Has Ali put the episode behind him? He says, “I don’t like to think like that. Whatever happened was unfortunate. I was part of that team and I have many memories of our shows — both Comedy Nights With Kapil (CNWK) and TKKS. The truth is, I opted out of the show as I wasn’t happy with my role in TKKS. While Dadi from CNWK was much loved and had a lot to do, Nani in TKKS wasn’t shaping up well. I gave the show a year hoping things would get better, but my character didn’t get the attention it deserved. I don’t have a grouse with Kapil. I kept mum earlier, as people interpret things differently, and facts are presented in a different light. I didn’t want to say anything, as I get scared of these things.” Ali says he hasn’t met Kapil since the in-flight incident, as they’ve both “been busy”. Although he has worked in shows named after other comedians, Ali isn’t aspiring to headline one himself. “I don’t want a show to be named after me, but you never know what may happen. I don’t see something like that happening. I am happy being a part of big shows. It is a burden to have your own show. Why would I want that?” he says, laughing. Ali recently had the opportunity to dub for an animated film, and he says it was a “novel experience” for him. “Dubbing for an animated character was fun. And, I was talking in a male voice after a long time (laughs). I have played a woman in comedy shows for the past four years, so this dubbing experience helped me rediscover myself (laughs),” he says.
