Manoj Bajpayee’s international film is flying high at fests
Actor Sridevi’s thriller drama film, Mom, is set to release in 21 screens in Russia, 9 screens in Poland and 3 screens in the Czech Republic in mid October. To reach out to a wider audience in the Russian market, the film is also being dubbed in Russian. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the film also features Akshaye Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles. It released in India on June 7, is Sridevi’s 300th film and is about how far a mother can go for the sake of her children. The film was also released in countries like the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. The film had its maiden world premiere at the prestigious Busan Film Festival, and now is selected at the festival for its India Gold Section category. “The film that features actors such as Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi and Shahana Goswami has been nominated along with other prominent films. The seven-day festival is known for showcasing the latest independent cinema and art house films alongside movies from Bollywood, Hollywood and other countries,” says a source. It is huge news for us that our film has been selected in the India Gold Section as a competitor. Being part of such prestigious festivals, first Busan and now this, it’s been quite a fun journey for us. It’s a special feeling as it is our own home festival which has always acknowledged some great cinema. We are excited to be part of the festival and are looking forward to it.”
