Happy birthday, Raveena!

- Rishabh Suri

Birthday girl Raveena Tandon, who turns 43 today, says she still looks forward to this day simply for the abundant love that she receives. “As a kid, you’re excited about your birthdays. But now I prefer to spend time with my family and kids. It’s a great feeling to be loved,” says the actor, who plans to spend a quiet birthday in Dubai. “Me and Anil (Thadani, Raveena’s husband) are quiet people. So instead of a big bash, it will be a family affair. And since I’ll be in Dubai, shopping will definitely be on the priority list,” says the popular actor of the 1990s, who made her comeback with the critically-acclaimed film Maatr, this year. Raveena shares her birthday with her best friend, actor Asin, who gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday. “We share our birthdays and invariably end up cutting the cake together,” she says. As an actor, Raveena reveals, her best birthdays have always been on film sets. “Most of my birthdays have been celebrated while shooting. It was always an emotional moment for me because the whole unit would come and cheer while I cut the cake,” recalls the actor. However, the best gifts that she has received are the ones from her kids, Rasha and Ranbir. “Everything they do for me is special. Last year, they gifted me a handmade box. The most precious gift I’ve ever got is from my mom. It’s a one-inch antique [edition of] Gita handed down to her by our ancestors. The words are inscribed in gold. For me, it’s priceless,” she says.
