Shashaa Tirupati considers The Humma Song from OK Jaanu as her first song in Bollywood, despite starting her career in the industry with songs in Bumm Bumm Bole (2010), and Turning 30!!! (2011). She shares this is because it was the rehashed version of the track originally composed by AR Rahman, which got her fame. “Even after singing several songs in Bollywood, I didn’t get the popularity that Humma Humma gave to me. After it released, I started getting more offers from the industry. The response I received from music lovers was also overwhelming. I am now known as the Humma girl,” Shashaa says, adding that she was happy when Rahman, whom she considers her mentor, also enjoyed the way she sang the song. On the trend of remaking old hits in Bollywood, she says “Any song that sounds interesting, works for me, even if that means revisiting an old song. But as an artist, I think that we should make new songs,” adds the singer.
