Providing physical education in schools

- HTC

While schools in India give great importance to academics, physical education is often neglected. The reason for this lies in our cultural and societal values. This has led to numerous physical education providers popping up all over the country. One of the finest is Leapstart. A brand of Fitkids Education Pvt. Ltd., it was formed in 2010 to fill the need for quality physical education in Indian schools. The company now runs its programmes in over 150 schools spanning more than 40 cities. The Leapstart programme is holistic and age-appropriate for school students of various age groups, designed to condition a healthy mind and to keep them active and fit. In 2013, after much research and study, MGD School in Rajasthan adopted the Leapstart programme. What attracted the school to Leapstart was the fact that its curriculum has been designed by sports specialists in partnership with SPARK, a leading Us-based research and public health organisation. According to principal, Archana Mankotia, “Leapstart classes are highlyanticipated by all our students. Leapstart activities are great fun but more importantly, develop muchneeded skills in our children. These skills form the foundation every sportsman and sportswoman need to move forward and achieve success in their chosen sport. All in all, I am delighted that our school has adopted the Leapstart programme. It truly has been a great success in our school.”
