Celebs share their Lohri plans, ahead of the festival, and what they will miss due to Covid-19

KARAN WAHI SURBHI CHANDNA

I look forward to performing all the rituals around the bonfire with friends and family. This year we might make a smaller bonfire. Lohri also signifies new beginnings and good things have happened for me every year. I’ll miss the community feeling and the high energy this year.

SHRADDHA ARYA

We celebrate in our building premises. My neighbours and family will celebrate together this year. I remember, celebrations in Delhi meant a huge function with all my cousins. Lohri is close to my heart as my dadi sings songs which she taught us too.

Last year would have been my daughter Tara’s first Lohri, but we couldn’t celebrate with her as she was unwell and too young. So, this year will be special. It will be a family affair as we will attend the Lohri function in our building complex. It won’t be as grand as always though, due to coronavirus. In Mumbai, Lohri celebrations are usually with a small group of friends. Moreover, 2020 has taught us a few lessons and the most important one is to be careful and maintain social distance. Lohri in Delhi used to be with family and cousins which I always looked forward to. I am in Uttarakhand and will celebrate Lohri with family in the snow. I hope it doesn’t put out our bonfire. The traditional rituals and customs I will miss is dressing up in a Patiala salwar kameez. I will be covered from head to toe in woollens as it’s very cold here right now.
