Bono, The Edge perform at Kyiv bomb shelter

Irish rock band, U2’s frontman, Bono and lead guitarist, The Edge along with Ukrainian musicianturned-soldier Taras Topolia performed at a Kyiv subway station, which has been converted into a bomb shelter, to show solidarity to Ukraine.

The Good News Movement page on Instagram posted a video of the performance inside the bomb shelter in Ukraine’s capital city. The text on the video read, “Bono and The Edge conduct surprise concert for Ukrainians in Kyiv bomb bunker.”

They performed the popular 1961 song Stand By Me by Ben E King but modified the lyrics to Stand with Ukraine. They also performed other U2 songs such as With Or Without You.

Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky praised their performance and thanked the band for their support towards the country. In a video address, he said, “I am grateful to [Bono and U2] for supporting our people and drawing even more attention to the need to help our people.”
