Modi wave a media hype, says Selja
GROUND WORK Newly appointed Cong state incharge in town to oversee Rahul rally preparations
UDAIPUR: Kumari Selja, the new incharge of Rajasthan, on Wednesday said the ‘Modi wave’ is only a creation of the media and people would vote UPA back to power.
Selja arrived in Udaipur after visiting Jhunjhunu to take stock of preparations by the party for Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s rallies in the two places on April 10.
When she was asked about the strong support among people for BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Selja said, “The Modi wave is a media creation. The hype will soon die down, as people will elect UPA back to power.”
Selja also visited Jhunjhunu and monitored the arrangements there along with Congress leader Virendra Beniwal.
After surveying preparations at the Gandhi ground in Udaipur, venue for the meeting, Selja said Gandhi’s rally would help not only Raghuvir Meena, the Congress candidate from Udaipur, but also help the party win all four seats of Udaipur region.
Asked about Gandhi’s meeting in Salumber during the assembly elections, which did not help the party win seats there, she said, “During assembly elections, the issues were different. People have made up their mind to elect UPA-3 government because they are satisfied with UPA 1 and UPA 2.”
The Congress state incharge also went to Vigyan Samiti Bhawan the Congress party office and met workers and exhorted them to stand united and make all possible efforts to win this seat
Gandhi will address meetings in Jhunjhunu and Udaipur while his Barmer rally has been put off by the party. JAIPUR: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will address two rallies in the state on Thursday, the party said on Wednesday.
