AAP’s plan to regulate the media is an idea not worth consideration

-

It is deplorable that AAP’s manifesto for the national election seeks to place curbs and restrictions on the freedom of the press. It may be recalled how AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in a scathing attack on the media said that “if his party’s government comes to power, it will send media people to jail”. For free and fair reporting of matters of national importance, it is important that the media remain independent. The media do not need an outside body to regulate them. As far as accountability is concerned, the media should be self-regulated.
