POLICE SUSPECT

THAT KUMHAR MIGHT HAVE TRIED TO SODOMISE THE VICTIM BEFORE KILLING HIM

KOTA: The body of a six-yearold boy, abducted from near his house in Suket town of Kota district, was found in nearby forest on Tuesday, police said.

The accused, Babulal Kumhar (45), has been arrested and booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, police said, adding that he has admitted his crime. Police suspect that Kumhar might have tried to sodomise the victim before killing him.

Superintendent of Police (Kota rural) Rajendra Singh said Salman, son of labourer Kallu, had been missing since Monday evening. Hours later, the family members informed police and a search operation was launched.

The boy’s body was spotted by a passerby in the forests of Salawad village, he said.

Assistant sub-inspector Ramesh Chand of Suket police station said that police had caught Kumhar for the abduction and murder of the child.

The reason for murder was not yet clear, but intention of unnatural sex could be one, Chand said. Probably the accused strangulated the child after a failed sodomy bid, but anything concrete can be said only after receiving the postmortem report, he said.

The police has been registered a case in the incident under sections 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of IPC.

Meanwhile, the family members and villagers staged agitation over the child’s murder and demanded compensation for the aggrieved family. SP Rajendra Singh and other administrative and police officials also rushed to Suket in the evening to bring the situation under control.

This is the second incident of abduction and murder of a child in Kota district in two months. A seven-year-old boy of Kota city, Rudraksh, was abducted and murdered by a youth on October 9 over `2 crore ransom demand.
