Kashmiris want issues resolved through democratic process: PDP

SRINAGAR: Expressing satisfaction at the smooth conduct of the third phase of Assembly polls, PDP on Tuesday said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have shown maturity in this election and sent out a “clear and loud” message that the problems facing the state be resolved through democratic process.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir have displayed maturity and wisdom in this election and have send out a loud and clear message that they want the problems facing the state resolved through democratic process.

“Irrespective of ideologies, the political setup now is required to respond in the same manner and with same enthusiasm to ensure issues of the people are understood, deliberated and resolved,” PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said while addressing a rally at Khiram in south Kashmir.

He claimed the maturity shown by the electorates during the ongoing polls has made it clear that there is an urge to establish a system of transparency, accountability and uniformity under the banner of PDP. The people have this time used the platform not only for “changing the government” and the “existing system” but to achieve wider “political and economic objectives”, he claimed.

He said, “Elections or people’s participation in them is not denial of the problems in J&K but it is an assertion that issues being faced by the people have to be resolved through democratic process.”
