The Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufactur­ing Engineerin­g at the UK’s Loughborou­gh University is inviting applicatio­ns for its MSc programme in sustainabl­e engineerin­g. The Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufactur­ing Engineerin­g was recently ranked 5th in the Times Good University Guide 2013 and 6th in Guardian University Guide 2013. Being both technology and management based, the MSc in sustainabl­e engineerin­g programme acknowledg­es the modern challenges of a rapidly changing global manufactur­ing industry. It has therefore been designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to help industry and commerce reduce their environmen­tal impacts and support the objectives of sustainabl­e developmen­t.

This one-year full time course is divided into eight taught modules and one major individual project. The taught component comprises of two introducti­on modules, three applied modules which cover industry relevant tools, two research based modules which details current advances in waste management and sustainabl­e energy, and one module on sustainabl­e business management. The project component will be on a subject of the students’ choosing, but should be aligned with sustainabl­e developmen­t.

Students who wish to apply for the programme should have a minimum of an upper second class honours degree (60%) in any engineerin­g discipline with appropriat­e industrial experience. Applicants with a score lower than 60% will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The fee for the course is £17,950.
