Moises does it for Sunrisers
RAIPUR: A hush fell around the stadium when Delhi Daredevils lost their most expensive player Yuvraj Singh, and that too after making just two runs. The lefthander tried to clear the midwicket boundary but gave a simple catch to Karn Sharma off off-spinner Parvez Rasool.
The moderate crowd at the Saheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium started moving out as nothing was left for them, with skipper JP Duminy too making an exit four balls later. Kedar Jadhav and Saurabh Tiwary stood firm to keep the momentum in the chase going till the final over. However, Delhi lost the battle to Sunrisers Hyderabad by six runs on Saturday night.
Delhi needed 16 runs in the last over and things started dramatically when Saurabh Tiwary struck Ishant Sharma for a boundary the very first ball. Thereafter, things didn’t go in their favour as Sunrisers came up with some stunning fielding efforts.
Sunrisers never found the going easy earlier as two bighitting openers Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner couldn’t last long. Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara, and to some extent pinch-hitter Karn Sharma, tried to shore up the innings with small but useful knocks. But it was Moises Henriques, who made a big difference. The lanky Australian hammered Albie Morkel for 21 runs in the penultimate over to lift the side beyond 150, which looked highly unlikely at one point. His unbeaten 46-ball 74 contained five sixes and a boundary.
