Lewd remarks land Trump in soup
WASHINGTON: Donald Trump bragged about groping and seducing women in a 2005 conversation caught on microphone, whose release on Friday caused such a firestorm that many Republicans felt compelled to condemn him publicly and call for him to leave the US presidential race.
Trump apologised twice within the span of a few hours, saying in a videotaped message: “Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am…I said it, I was wrong, and I apologise.”
But he ended up sounding more defiant than contrite, as he went on to accuse Bill Clinton, the former president and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s husband, of worse, and signed off with a reminder to catch the upcoming debate on Sunday.
