Fog disrupts flight, train services
NORTH-WESTERN RAILWAY RESCHEDULES SEVERAL TRAINS WHILE MANY OTHER TRAINS ARE RUNNING LATE
NEW DELHI: Foggy weather conditions disrupted train operations with 31 North-bound trains running late or being rescheduled.
“The North Western railway has rescheduled nine trains as they started late due to fog while other 22 are already running late,” a Northern railway official said.
Departure of SriganganagarDelhi Express, SriganganagarRishikesh Express, AjmerBhagalpur Express, JodhpurVaranasi Express were rescheduled while HawrahJodhpur/Bikaner Express and Nizamuddin-Udipur Express were running late.
In the national capital, mercury settled at a pleasant 12.3 degrees Celsius, even as foggy conditions hit operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport and delayed several Delhi-bound trains.
As many as 38 domestic and international flights were affected, of which 13 were cancelled, while at least 80 Delhi-bound trains were running behind schedule by two to four hours due to reduced visibility.
“The minimum temperature this morning settled at 12.3 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity was recorded at 87 per cent at 8.30am,” a MeT department official said.
The visibility was recorded at 500 metre, the official said, adding that the situation will improve as the day progress.
The maximum temperature will hover around 24 degrees Celsius, according to a MeT forecast.
