3 engineers held for taking bribe in Bundi

KOTA: A team of Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths from Jaipur has caught three engineers of the government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd in Bundi for accepting a bribe of ₹60,000 from a cable contractor, the CBI officials said on Wednesday.
The arrested were identifies as junior telecom officer Pradeep Meena, assistant general manager Manoj Tripathi and sub-divisional engineer Ramesh Pandey. A cable contractor had filed a complaint against the accused with the Jaipur office of CBI.
In his complaint, the complainant had accused the BSNL officials of demanding a bribe for clearing his bills of ₹12 lakh against laying of optical fibre (OF) cables in Bundi.
On the basis of the complaint, the CBI team raided the BSNL’s office on bypass road in Bundi on Tuesday night and arrested the accused from the AGM’s office, the bureau officials said. The team recovered ₹20,000 from Pradeep Meena, ₹16,000 from Ramesh Pandey and ₹24,000 from Manoj Tripathi, they added. The CBI team also seized official documents from the AGM’s office.
Later, the CBI team carried out searches at the offices and homes of the accused. The team also interrogated BSNL’s manager in Bundi and other officials.
