Complete construction of 8 new medical colleges on time: Saraf
Health minister Kali Charan Saraf here on Wednesday directed that the construction work of new medical colleges be completed on time. He also said that faculty, doctors and other medical personnel be employed as per the provisions of Medical Council of India.
Reviewing construction of eight new medical colleges in the state at directorate of medical education, Saraf expressed satisfaction on the progress of construction of medical colleges at Bhilwara, Bharatpur, Dungarpur, Churu and Pali.
Saraf directed strict monitoring on the construction works at Barmer medical college. He asked for doing separate review of construction of Alwar and Sikar medical colleges.
The construction of the medical colleges started in 2016 and the target is to complete it by July. Saraf flagged off Live Tobacco Free marathon in the city at 8am under Say No to Tobacco campaign. He stressed on abstaining from tobacco as the substance is the main cause of many diseases including oral cancer. Saraf asked people should be informed about the ill-effects of tobacco.
Chief medical and health officer Jaipur (I) Dr Narottam Sharma said the marathon started from Ramnivas Garden and finished at the University of Rajasthan in which large number of youth took part and were carrying placards with anti-tobacco slogans.
The health department from February 25 will launch a special campaign to identify tuberculosis patients, in which Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) will identify people with symptoms of TB in their areas, those suffering from TB and taking medicines in the state.
