BAREILLY: A drug addict sent shockwaves through Amariya in Pilibhit district after he allegedly beheaded a seven-year-old boy and ate his flesh.

The victim, Mohammad Monis, was reportedly playing outside his house with other children on Tuesday afternoon when Nazim, who is in his twenties, lured him into the house of a relative and killed him.

Neighbours informed the police about the incident, said Devranjan Verma, SP, Pilibhit.

The police team which reached the spot saw a shocking sight. “The body was lying on the floor with the decapitated head beside it. The skin on the abdomen was missing and internal organs and bloodstains were scattered across the room,” the police offier said.

Nazim was sitting near the corpse and surrendered to the police without any resistance, he added.

Locals enraged by the murder and cannibalism, manhandled Nazim in front of senior police officials before they intervened to save him.

Based on the complaint lodged by the Monis’s father, police registered an FIR against Nazim under Section 302 (murder), Section 341 (wrongful restraint), 362 (abduction) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

On Wednesday, the accused was presented in a court in Pilibhit which sent him to judicial custody. “We will try to complete the investigation of the case and submit the final charge sheet in court,” said the SP.
