THREE HELD FOR CONDUCTING SEX TEST IN SRIGANGANAGAR
JAIPUR: Three persons were arrested for allegedly planning to carry out sex determination tests in Sriganganagar, an official said on Friday.
The Rajasthan pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic technique (PCPNDT) cell carried out a raid on Thursday and arrested Pawan Kumar Jat (24) resident of Khananian in Hanumangarh district, Charan Singh (31) resident of Malpur in Abohar district of Punjab and Dharmendra Singh (28) resident of Alamgarh, Punjab, for running a sex determination racket.
Rajasthan’s PCPDNT cell head Naveen Jain said that they had received information that sex determination tests were being conducted with an illegal sonography machine at the residence of Ramandeep Singh in Bharat Nagar, Purani Abadi area in Sriganganagar.
The cell sent a decoy woman to the middleman who took her to Ramandeep’s residence for the test. The decoy charged ₹30,000.
Ramandeep Singh (31) and his woman colleague Raj Chauhan escaped with the illegal sonography machine and ₹22,500 out of ₹30,000 given to the decoy.
Jain said ₹7,500 was recovered from the three persons. There are many middlemen in cities and towns of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, he said.
The gang used to give time for sex determination tests on government holidays so that they wouldn’t get caught.
Jain said the team was led by additional superintendent of police Raghuveer Singh. This has been 60th decoy operation since PCPDNT act was implemented in the state and 30th during the current financial year.
